Two Latest Books — On Shakers, House Plans

The two final titles of Warwick Publications are now in print.

Pleasant Hill: Shaker Canaan in Kentucky is both a social and an architectural study of Central Kentucky's Mercer County Shaker colony. James C. Thomas, President and CEO of Shakertown at Pleasant Hill, writes, "Clay Lancaster has contributed much to the body of cultural knowledge with his many books. This latest offering is one of his best!" Illustrated with photographs and drawings, it concludes with a careful inventory of the structures at Shakertown. ($35.00)

Drawing by Clay Lancaster, Colonial Revival House from Architectural Edification.

Architectural Residuum is the last in the four-volume series of Clay Lancaster's imaginative house plans. Twenty-four town and country residences in such historical styles as Georgian, Greek Revival, Gothic Revival, Romanesque Revival, Renaissance Revival, Queen Anne, and colonial Revival, are expressed in terms of modern building possibilities. Elevations, floor plans, and perspective drawings suggest how each might appear in its 21st-century realization. ($50.00)
